Sheryl Underwood is an American comedian and TV personality most well-known as anchor for The Talk, a popular talk show broadcast on daytime television. Born in Arkansas she grew up in Little Rock and Atwater. Sheryl is a member of a troubled family. She spent the majority of her childhood taking care of her younger sister Frankie suffering from the disease of polio. As she grew older she had numerous arguments with her mom. Sheryl alleges that, for instance she was stabbed by her mother's father after he became intimate with her. Sheryl became a military officer after graduating from college. Her interest was in comedy. She became the first woman to be a finalist in the competition Miller Lite Comedy Search held in 1989. In 1992, she made her TV debut as a regular performer in the HBO show Def Comedy Jam. The host was on TV for the 2000 season of Oh Drama! In 2011, she began participating in The Talk as co-host. She's been in many fictional series such as Bulworth Nikki Beauty Shop and others.
