Lars Mikkelsen-1Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen, born 6 May 1964, is a Danish actor. He was in the role of Troels Hartmann (Copenhagen mayoral election candidate) in The Killing and [1] Charles Augustus Magnussen (third series of Sherlock), the Russian president Viktor Petrov on Netflix's American House of Cards, and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars Rebels. He received the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011, aged of 27. In 1995, he was admitted to the National Theatre School of Denmark. In addition to his role in the drama series released globally as The Killing he subsequently appeared in two more internationally highly acclaimed Danish dramas, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He also had a prominent role in an episode of BBC drama Sherlock as the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen.In the American TV show House of Cards, he played the role of President Russia. In 2018, he received an International Emmy Award for his role as the lead character on the Danish TV drama Herrensveje. The show was telecast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019.
